ICON can react quickly to your engineering needs!
The ICON engineering staff is ready to handle the challenge of your next design project. Besides boasting the largest line of standard shelters in the industry, ICON also has the capability of engineering your custom design, sometimes within a few hours. Do you need engineering in a hurry? Tired of waiting for other shelter manufacturers to send engineering out for “over-stamping”? ICON has the personnel on staff to handle any design requirement.
On-staff Licensed Engineers
The ICON engineering staff includes structural engineers who are licensed across the country, talented architectural designers, and trained CAD draftsmen. Together, they bring over 70 years combined experience in the design and engineering of structural steel buildings. Our engineers will design your shelter to meet your local building code requirements, which may be less that the “standard” 30 psf snow load and 100 mph wind speed. The ability to design to lower load requirements may reduce the cost of your structure, enabling you to put that money to good use in other areas. Conversely, if your building code requires a higher design load, such as Miami/Dade’s wind speed requirements of 150 mph, you can be sure that your ICON structure meets that code requirement.
Avoid the Liability of Improperly Engineered Footing Designs
Some companies have been known to send out a “standard” footing, designed to work anywhere in the country. This can either be too light for the building, causing structural failure, or too heavy, costing you more money to construct than it should. Why open yourself up to the liability of improper engineering? All ICON engineering packages include foundation design specific to your shelter on your site. Your local soils report is all that our engineers need to design the foundation.
ICON Shelters are Code Compliant!
ICON engineers are educated about all of the changes in the model building codes and other governing agencies such as OSHA. All ICON shelters meet the current design requirements that are listed in such building codes as the Uniform Building Code or the International Building Code, and all state specific building codes. ICON shelters are not designed for one code and made to fit the others. All calculations are done for each job based on the specific building code required by the city or state where the shelter is to be located.
Avoid Costly OSHA Penalties
ICON shelters also meet the construction safety requirements of OSHA Steel Erection Standard 29 CFR 1926.750 Part R. This requires that all columns must have (4) anchor bolts for column stability. Not all shelter companies engineer their structures to meet this requirement.
Professional, Responsible, Accountable
Essentially, ICON Shelter Systems, Inc. has backed up their claims by investing in the human resources necessary to insure that your structure is designed correctly, on time, and in budget. The ICON engineering department has the intellectual capacity, the talent, the experience, and the appropriate licensure to get the job done on any project you bring to the table. Our engineering work will be done to code and on time. Give us a call on your next project.
