Quincy Park Little League Complex

Holland Charter Township, Michigan

August 2005

M. C. Smith Associates and Architectural Group Inc., and Holland Charter Township had a vision of turning an open field into a facility for family activity. The Quincy Park Little League Complex is the result of that vision. The park has four new baseball diamonds for team play, and the surrounding spaces are beautifully designed to accommodate onlookers and picnickers.

At the entrance to the complex, two steel baseball bats 14’ high form an arch from which hang letters that spell out “QUINCY PARK”. At the crossing of the bats are two 12” steel baseballs. The entire archway was fabricated to M. C. Smith’s original design intent out of steel plate and tube, and was finished with electro-coat epoxy primer and two coats of TGIC polyester powder coating.

Just inside the entrance is another arch that frames the complex’s activity schedule board. A double door locking display cabinet is mounted to the bolted steel frame, which was finished in the same epoxy primer and polyester powder coat.

At the center of the three ball diamonds is a 24’ double tier clerestory square shelter. Here families can share their lunch or rest in the shade during or between games. The roof deck is 2x6 Western Lodgepole Pine covered with 24 gauge painted Galvalume standing seam metal roofing.

ICON Shelter Systems Inc. is proud to have been a part of such a well-planned and constructed improvement for the residents of Holland Township.

M. C. Smith Associates and Architectural Group, Inc. are landscape architects and park planners located in East Grand Rapids, Michigan. The construction was performed by Dan Vos Construction Company from Ada, Michigan.
