This project was selected to highlight special features in the ICON product line..
In 2005, one of our Texas sales people, Carl Simmons, called and asked me to come to the Austin area to visit a park where plans were being made to build improvements to baseball and softball fields. The City of Round Rock, Texas was being billed as The Sports Capitol of Texas, and they were ready to invest millions of dollars to create a sports tournament facility like no other.
The first installment was in the summer of 2006. Three existing fields were to receive new structures for bleacher covers, scoring booths, and dugouts. Thirteen structures were shipped to Round Rock for that first installment. The structures were designed with stonework similar to that found on the Dell Diamond, home of the Round Rock Express, the Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.
In 2007, the vision began to unfold in big, Texas style. This time, it wasn’t a plan to retrofit existing ball fields. New fields were being built to form The Hall of Fame Complex at Old Settler’s Park. ICON provided 25 structures for fourteen different baseball and softball fields in the summer and fall of 2008.
In 2016, Round Rock started work on the Multi-Purpose Complex, and ICON shipped another eleven structures before its completion in 2017.
Old Settler’s Park is the crown jewel of Round Rock’s park system, and ICON Is proud to have been a part of such a large scale project that provides recreational programs for all the people of the state of Texas, and revenue to the City of Round Rock.
